Our house just before the scraping and painting started. This is already a dramatic improvement on how it looked when we bought it, since the nasty huge trees/bushes are removed, and we have new windows in all but one room (far right room is the sunroom and has 8 windows by itself)! And most of the shutters have been removed as well.
A closer picture of the side and front. These two sides are now scraped and the front has some paint on it.
Day 1 of painting is below:
Mom up at the peak. The man across the street was floored that a lady was up that high doing all the painting. Mom's legs are nice and bruised to prove it!
Mom and Jeff putting on some paint...and the only remaining shutter is finally gone!
Day two of painting is below:
Leah wants some credit for the work too. Paul ripped out the railing on our porch since it was falling off anyway. We planned on putting in a new railing...then Leah was scraping and realized that the edges of the porch are rotten (it caved in under her), so we might need to do a bit of work on the floor of the porch as well! Paul also ripped some horrible bushes and dug out stumps on the side of the house. I don't have a picture of that yet, but I'll try to get one.
It's hard to see the color in this picture, but you can at least see where there is new paint. The sunlight was making it difficult to get good pictures! (We also can't figure out why so many wires connect to our house in so many places...WAY more than what is needed!) Also, both sides of the house are now scraped (Paul scraped the short side by himself on day two of painting) so that leaves the back to be scraped and repaired (some siding needs to be replaced), and then just painting the rest of the house!
Looking good! Love the new color you guys chose!
