What he can do: Cole counts to ten, identifies uppercase and lowercase letters, spells his name and points out letters everywhere, jumps with both feet at once, kicks and throws a ball, stacks tall towers of blocks, has a few books memorized, and is a good problem solver. His language is exploding! He has new things to say all the time. He can throw excellent tantrums as well. Even if you are handing him the milk he begged for, he will throw himself on the floor screaming, because something isn't quite right about it. It's wearing on my patience a touch.
Eats: We are still in the picky toddler stage. He whines for candy all day long too. I blame grandma. He eats better if we are eating the same thing as him, which is fine for dinner, but lunch time, I usually feed him much earlier than I want to eat. He LOVES spaghetti, french fries, hot dogs, yogurt, applesauce, oranges, raisins, rice, and cheese. Notice there are no veggies on the list.
Sleep: Cole is taking one nap a day. He wakes up around 6:45, naps from about 1 to 3, and is in bed about 8pm. He takes FOREVER to fall asleep at bedtime lately. If we don't do enough during the day, he doesn't burn off enough energy, but if he's too busy during the day, he is too wound up to sleep. We've had a few middle of the night wakings again, but it was due to ear infections again, now that his ear tubes fell out. He has to have his 2 bops (pacis) and his frog to sleep. He likes being snuggled under a blanket now too. Sometimes I find him sleeping under his pillow, completely folded in half so you can't even see him. I have no idea how that's comfortable!
Books: Cole LOVES to read still, and I'm thrilled. He asks for Chica Chica Boom Boom a lot, and The Goodnight Train ("churrain"--lots of one syllable words become two syllable for Cole). He doesn't have a lot of patience to sit through longer books if he doesn't love them. I don't know if he's really into the "story" stage yet. He doesn't seem to care about the story part at all yet. Just wants to hear words and see pictures.
Toys/Games: Cole loves to push cars and trucks around right now, and adores cooking in his kitchen. For his birthday, he got a frog backpack and wouldn't even leave the house today without it on his back. He treats it like a baby, and plays with it, and then totes it around on his back. It's pretty adorable. He asks us to write letters on the magnadoodle for him to guess too. He also learned duck, duck, goose from a "Let's Move" commercial on Sprout the other day, and started playing it with me and Jeff randomly in the kitchen while we made dinner. I about fell over laughing when I realized what he was doing!
Clothes: Pants-- 2T yet. Some are even too big still. We're in trouble for spring, because grandma was way off on sizes and bought 4T shorts. Oops. Guess we're going shopping!
Shirts-- 3T
Sleepers-- 3T. I think I have one more sleeper in size 4T, but I won't be buying more. He is starting to look ridiculous in them since he's so big.
Shoes-- size 7.5 extra wide. I should get him measured and order his next pairs. I am sick of buying shoes, but the Payless ones were junk within a week or two, so we're stuck with the good ones for now.
