This week has been interesting. Coco has obviously grown a bit, and her lungs are maturing, which is good. She is wrinkly, but gaining weight and filling out a bit more yet. Coco is getting good at lodging in my ribs, or dancing on my bladder, which isn't really the most pleasant feeling in the world! Last night she was kicking so hard I couldn't fall asleep! (That's okay though. I was worried about getting my flu shot and prayed for lots of movement this weekend to reassure me, so I liked knowing Coco was okay.)
Also, I was so excited that it was cooling off...then today, high 70s again! Agh! I want to wear long sleeves!
This week was a long week, full of all sorts of medical stuff. Monday I went in to the hospital because I developed many symptoms of pre-eclampsia. The hospital was busy, and told me that the pain I was experiencing was my sciatic nerve. Well, by Wednesday, with no relief from the pain, and it migrating into my ribs, and far from where the sciatic nerve runs, I called the doctor again, and was told to come in immediately. I had lab work done, which came back normal (my liver and kidneys are still functioning properly). I still however, have all the symptoms of pre-eclampsia, so at a follow up appointment on Friday, my doctor said that we are to the point where I am fighting for each and every day of this pregnancy. I was caught off guard, so I have been thinking of questions to ask on Tuesday at my next appointment to clarify this! I want to know possible prognosis, and scenarios, etc. and if/when I will be started on steroids to mature Coco's lungs. I am now following a bit stricter bedrest, since I'd like to make it at least a few more weeks. I have mini-goals. Since I'm 28 weeks now, I'd like to make it to at least 30. After that, 32 weeks, and after that, 35 weeks, etc. I have been told that every day I stay pregnant shaves 3 days off a NICU stay for Coco, and that is what is motivating me at this point.
I'll be praying for you, Cara!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I hope the bedrest is helping. I'm on bedrest as well (albeit a modified bedrest where I can actually get up and walk to the bathroom/fridge/etc if needed). Hopefully both our babes will stay in for longer!
