Relief
So as much as I didn't want to have things go this way, it's a huge relief to know that I am now covered for the entirety of my pregnancy, and that our child is covered until our income goes up. I never wanted to burden an overburdened state by using their benefits/assistance, but children are expensive, and we don't make much right now. Hopefully, that will change (if Jeff's candidate gets elected) in January, right AFTER Coco makes an appearance. So for now, we are covered, and even qualify for other assistance, though I am not sure about taking it. The health insurance was a big one for us, and I knew sooner or later it would start to worry Jeff, so I'm glad that's taken care of already (it actually was surprisingly quick...I sent in paperwork last week Thursday and got the approval today!). Anyway, that takes a little of the worry away and will allow us to get other things ready for Coco!

Cara,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely take advantage of the assistance while you can. In time, your taxes will be covering someone else so in the meantime, just think of it as your parents' taxes and Marlyce's taxes covering you! If you qualify for WIC, take it -- it's great!

We do qualify for WIC. I have an appointment in two weeks for that. THe only thing is I might have to switch doctors to be covered but I DEFINITELY have a problem with that! I really hope my doctor's office will accept Healthy Kids/Medicaid. It's the largest drs office in GR, and is a new huge health facility, so I would think so, but I don't know for sure yet.
ReplyDeleteWe use WIC still. Those services are in place to help out people in exactly our situations...trying to provide a healthy life for our kids while doing the best we can financially :) Take advantage... whatever you don't use each month doesn't get charged to the state. You can use coupons if you feel bad about the cost of the items to help discount the amount the state pays out. just a thought :)
ReplyDeleteI know. I just laughed because I saw a food card and what I would probably qualify for as a pregnant woman, and then when the baby is born, and I don't eat half of it. I don't like eggs (i do put them in cake), cheese, tuna, or beans, and can't drink milk. Also, it says for baby food only glass jars, which gerber doesn't even do anymore except for stage three and meats. Other stuff I'm going ot have to learn to like other brands (bread)...So most of the food on the card, I'll buy only if I need it for something else, or for Jeff to eat so I can buy something I will eat! At least until Coco is older and eating food!
