Coco is 37 weeks--FULL term! And time to be done. Coco is about the size of a watermelon. Except according to ultrasound measurements, Coco's head is still measuring far ahead, and my pelvis is too small, so a c-section might very well be in my future. (This is surprising to me since I've been told my entire life that I had good hips for having kids!)
This week I lost vision in my left eye, and had numbness and tingling in my left arm/hand on Tuesday, and worried I was having a stroke, was sent immediately to the hospital instead of my appointment. We were certain Coco would arrive that day, but yet again, I was pushed to wait. I'm starting to wonder about the competence of my doctor, and the staff at the hospital, especially when I was discharged while contracting every 2 minutes, and without an explanation for the loss of vision or the numbness and tingling. At my appointment on Friday, I again received no answers (do they teach doctors the art of dodging questions in med school??) for anything that has been going on, and honestly, I'm to the point where I'm just not going to go in until the baby is already here. For the sake of my health, this kid better come soon. A healthy mom makes for a healthy baby, and I am in no way healthy right now.
Here's me at 37 weeks. Well, the night before 37 weeks. The only difference is that my mom trimmed my hair today so it's finally not so nasty!

Is it too late to get a 2nd opinion?
ReplyDeleteThose are pretty major symptoms, especially the loss of vision. I'd at least talk to your regular family doctor about it and see if they have any ideas. It's probably too late for a new OB THIS late in the game, but still.
ReplyDeleteThat stinks, mama! Sorry :(
At the end with Cadence, I lost feeling in my right thigh. Never really got better. The vision thing is really weird though. I found a REALLY great doctor for this one, I can pass his number and maybe he can at least give some advice :)
ReplyDeleteIt's never too late for a second opinion or a new hospital ER!

My (lack of decent) insurance makes it much too late to get a second opinion, unfortunately... they require prior authorization for all hospital visits with referrals from my OB in order to be covered. So I'm stuck in that regard.
ReplyDeleteWhat about talking to a different doctor at the same office, would that be a possibility? Mine has NEVER dodged a question and has always been wonderful!!!
