Here's a story...

Meet my furnace. Above the white PVC pipe is a hole the size of a quarter in the side of the furnace.
This hole likes to spew water every time the air conditioner kicks on.
The bottom of our furnace is full of water. We needed a new furnace filter anyway, but now I'm pretty sure it's soaking wet. I'm not replacing it with another one to act like a sponge.
The floor to the right of our furnace has a rather deep puddle. The partial wall sitting a few feet from the furnace is also soaked and getting moldier.
The puddle extends behind the water heater, leading us to originally think our hot water heater leaked.
The puddle extends the other direction by hitching a ride on the rug on the floor that is stuck down with sticky tape.
Now that rug is so wet that when you walk on it, water splashes back at you.
All this water is supposed to run toward the drain in the floor, however it has decided to remain stubborn and just sit there all day ticking me off.
Meanwhile, our borrowed dehumidifier runs constantly and cannot keep up with the flood.

Why this started a month ago, I'm not sure. I blame...the old owners. Just cause that's easier.
Guess we'll be scrounging up the cash to hire a _______ (plumber? HVAC tech?--we don't know if we need a furnace person since it's not a WATER pipe leaking, just somehow the furnace leaking water; a plumber because we're dealing with water?? I'm NOT paying for both!) on Monday while we're both at work, since this needs to be taken care of before I can swim downstairs!
Hmmm...
