2012

Like just about everyone, Jeff and I will be renewing our weight loss resolutions this year. In order to boost our chances of actually being successful, we are meal planning together, and including lighter options on our menu, instead of so many pizzas and large "meat and potato" meals. We also are excited to move the elliptical back into the living room (once the tree is taken outside tonight), so we can exercise more easily, and be reminded to exercise by seeing the elliptical sitting there.

After a largely unsuccessful run with Weight Watchers for me, I'm also planning to talk to my doctor at my next appointment, as I was unable to lose weight even when sticking to the plan...I gained 7 pounds instead! So I just want to make sure everything is okay, and that there is no medical reason for that, and possibly get some ideas for weight loss success for me. I also bought a few more water bottles to tote around the house to make sure I'm getting in my water every day, and we are both going to try to cut down on pop--a plus for our grocery budget as well as our health!

This doesn't mean we're going to eat only salads and drink only water, but we are hoping small changes take us in the right direction, and make way for other healthy options down the road. Hopefully we can kick our year off well with the motivation to continue more than a month or two. Having a stomach bug run through our house gave us a good starting point, I guess!

We are also going to be buckling down on our budget. We have a pretty good one in place, but let ourselves slip away from it over the holidays. This means switching to cash for eating out and spending money, and saving as much as we can, while paying off some debt. It's a pseudo-Dave Ramsey plan (without the whole all plastic cards are evil part). So I guess if you want us to go out with you, give us enough notice that we still have some cash left to pay for it!
